COLLECTIVE MEMORY AND ORAL ARCHIVES

PIDEE Foundation has developed a line of work in Oral Archives and Historical Memory, whose source of information is primary, that is to say, it is based on the institution’s archives and documentation; as well as on the direct account of those were the beneficiaries of the care programs developed since 1979.

This collaborative work with the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos (Museum of Memory and Human Rights) aims to be an analysis and reflection of the collective memory where past and present of Children and Adolescents are re-signified from the defense, respect and promotion of Human Rights

I WAS RUNNING AWAY TO THE CEMETERY

2019

“ME ESCAPABA AL CEMENTERIO” (I WAS RUNNING AWAY TO THE CEMETERY) Testimonies of daughters and sons of people who were Politically Executed during the early years of the Civil-Military Dictatorship (1973 and 1976), seeks to make visible through the recording of eleven interviews, the psychosocial impact caused to children and adolescent – now adults – of the execution of father and/or mother through shooting without trial, in a brutal and unfair way.

This project is the fifth volume of a Memory and Oral Archives series carried out in conjunction with the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos (Museum of Memory and Human Rights). The written records published in a book, as well as the audiovisual interviews are part of the public access material in the Documentation Center of both institutions (PIDEE Foundation and MMDH (Museum of Memory and Human Rights))

LAST WITNESSES

2019

“ULTIMOS TESTIGOS  (LAST WITNESSES), Voices of Daughters and Sons of people who survived political imprisonment”, features the testimonies of ten people who experienced during their childhood the detention of their father and/or mother, survivors of political imprisonment during the military regime.

This is a work that reconstruct subjectivities, reinterpreted from the present, from the advances and debts in Truth, Justice and Memory that the country has experienced since the recovery of democracy.

The project was carried out in conjunction with the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos (Museum of Memory and Human Rights) and financed by the Subsecretaría de Derechos Humanos of Ministerio de Justicia (Undersecretariat of Human Rights of the Ministry of Justice). The written records published in a book, as well as the audiovisual interviews are part of the public access material in the Documentation Center of both institutions (PIDEE Foundation and MMDH (Museum of Memory and Human Rights))

Historization and reflection based on the testimonies of 18 people, including children, mothers, fathers and, part of the team that worked on the experience of the PIDEE Foundation program “Casa Hogar” (Foster Home), developed between 1985 and 1990 in Santiago of Chile.

PIDEE Foundation in collaboration with the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos (Museum of Memory and Human Rights) reconstruct memory through this Oral Archives, whose written records published in a book, as well as the audiovisual interviews are part of the public access material in the Documentation Center of both institutions

CHILDREN AND YOUTH/ADOLESCENT IN EXILE

Analysis of the narratives given by twelve people who, as a children and adolescents, went into exile with their parents and later defied the return to Chile.

PIDEE Foundation, in collaboration with the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos (Museum of Memory and Human Rights) reconstruct memory and inserts it into a subject that little has been said or written about. Even less on the return of the sons and daughters of exiles who returned to their parent’s country origin.

Analysis and reflection of the collective memory where past and present of Children and Adolescents are re-signified from the defense, respect and promotion of Human Rights.

PIDEE Foundation, in collaboration with the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos (Museum of Memory and Human Rights), recorded twelve testimonies of children of missing detainees who received comprehensive care at PIDEE Foundation between 1979 and 1990.
